The German carmaker’s subsidiary Jetta has finally previewed the all-electric sedan Jetta M6 by releasing a video, which reveals its design is the same as what we get to see through the China MIIT filing catalogue release of July 2026. The videos they have made public show the car in Oriental Purple. Let’s take a closer look at the design:
- Upfront, it boasts integrated LED headlights below the bonnet on the edge, which include L-shaped daytime running lights and main headlamps; a Jetta logo at the centre just below the hood; a closed-off body-coloured grille with number plate housing; and bumper-integrated lower active air intakes.
- On the sides, it has double-tone alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, blacked-out A, B and C pillars, semi-hidden flush-type handles for the door, and A-pillar-mounted outside the rear-view mirror with integrated blinkers.
- The rear features a full-width LED taillight on the tailgate with JETTA lettering in the centre, through-type LED taillights on the edges that connect with the taillights, and black bumper cladding with a horizontal-shaped reflector just below the tailgate.
Notably, the Jetta will be introduced in two variants in terms of dimensions, which are standard and wider. The former one’s width is 1,868 mm, and the latter is 1,895 mm, 27 mm more than the former. The length of both is 4,806 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm, and even the height is similar for both, which is 1,500 mm.
As of now, they haven’t confirmed any launch date or price. Reportedly, they will start the pre-sale in the third quarter of 2026, and the market launch will take place in the fourth quarter. The Jetta M6 is set to be positioned as a rival to the Leapmotor B01, Geely Galaxy E5 Sedan, and BYD Qin L EV, so we are expecting it to cost 100,000 to 150,000 yuan, which translates to 14.12 to 21.17 lakh rupees.
The interior is still behind the cover, but they have confirmed that it features a 5-person seating capacity in a 2-3 layout with ample legroom, headroom, and shoulder room for all occupants. Before the driving seat, it will feature a three-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons on it for control. The dashboard will have a touchscreen infotainment system at the centre and an instrument cluster under the steering wheel. Other expected features are:
- Wireless phone charging to charge the phone without plugging in,
- Separate rear air conditioning vents to keep the rear seating comfortable,
- Ambient lighting on the dashboard to enhance the night drive mode,
- Multiple airbags to keep the occupants safe in case of collision,
- 360-degree camera to get the surround view,
- And front and rear parking sensors to make parking convenient.
All set to be available for sale in the Chinese market as front-wheel drive, getting a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle, which will remain bolted with a one-speed automatic reduction gearbox. They will offer it with two different lithium-ion battery packs, whose capacities are still pending; with the standard one, it will generate 113 kW (152 hp), but the larger one will deliver 145 kW (194 hp).
The CLTC range is still pending for both battery packs. It is certain that they will be based on an 800-volt electrical architecture supporting fast DC; however, it is still undisclosed what the charging output and timings will be for the different battery pack options. China’s MIIT filling catalogue release has already confirmed that the one that will come with a standard battery pack can reach a maximum speed of 166 km/h, and the other can reach up to 172 km/h.
