Kia Sorento Hybrid India Pre-Bookings Begin; Launch Expected Before Diwali 2026

Kia India, the Indian subsidiary of South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia, teased the Kia Sorento Hybrid on August 3, 2026, and also announced that they have pre-bookings via Kia dealerships in India. They are all set to introduce the model to the Indian market before Diwali 2026; we are expecting to be introduced to the Indian market in September 2026, although the official confirmation is still pending.

The teaser image they have released has a front-end lighting signature. Upfront, it is set to get LED T-shaped daylight running lights, vertically orientated main LED headlamps, and bumper-integrated fog lights. Kia India will fully unveil this upcoming sport utility vehicle at the launch. It has already been spotted testing on public roads multiple times, but every single time it was highly camouflaged.

After the multiple sightings of its test mules, many details about its exterior have emerged. Now, it is clear that it will have roof rails that help in carrying luggage on the roof; mechanical pull-type door handles which enhance practicality over the flush-type handles; and A-pillar-mounted ORVMs with integrated blinkers, which are electronically adjustable and foldable.

Internally, the Kia Sorento Hybrid is already on sale. The one Kia India is going to introduce in the Indian market is assembled in India and most likely to measure the same as the international model, whose length is 4,815 mm, width is 1,900 mm, height ranges from 1,695 mm to 1,700 mm, wheelbase is 2,815 mm, and ground clearance is 176 mm. There’s no confirmation that the Indian model will be the same in terms of dimensions as the one sold abroad.

Some reports suggest that the ground clearance of the Indian model is set to be slightly higher than the international one to ensure that it meets the Indian road conditions and passes the road with potholes and speed breakers easily. As the changes in the ride height are certain, then we can expect that it will be taller than the international variant.

Launch may happen as a seven-seater, and the option of six people seating with two captain seats in the middle row is also expected; however, no media reports have confirmed anything about it. If there will be no changes in dimensions compared to one sold abroad, it may feature boot space of 604 litres by folding the third row, which is further expandable to 1,988 litres with the second row folded.

Like the exterior, its interior is also undisclosed. We are expecting it to get all the features that are offered with the international-spec Kia Sorento Hybrid. On the dashboard, it may get a 12.3-inch touchscreen; one is set to be at the centre of the dashboard as the infotainment system and another under the steering wheel that will act as a digital instrument cluster showing driving data clearly.

It is certain that the driver seat is going to be electronically adjustable, and both front seats will be ventilated to keep the co-passenger and driver cool during hot days. Other features that are highly anticipated inside the cabin are a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, an electronic parking brake instead of a handbrake, a rotary gear selector, and a level 2 advanced driving assistant system suite.

The details regarding the powertrain are still pending a report suggesting that, as a whole, it will get a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine with a strong hybrid system that includes an electric motor and lithium-ion polymer battery, whose combined power output is 238 hp and peak torque is 380 Nm. Its drivetrain is set to be FWD, and the transmission is 6-speed automatic.
