The BMW iX3 Long-Wheelbase is all set to make its debut in the Chinese market in the second half of 2026. Pre-sales for the same are expected to start at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, and market launch will take place by October 2026, a month that will mark the start of delivery. The recent catalogue release of the China MIIT filing reveals that this vehicle is built on Neue Klasse EV architecture, whose drivetrain is all-wheel drive.
Equipped with two electric motors, the permanent magnet synchronous motor is mounted on the front axle with a single-speed automatic transmission, and an induction motor is placed on the front axle. Its electrical architecture is 800-volt high voltage. Notably, the combined power output is 351 kW (477 hp), which helps the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 210 km/h.
Under the floor, it has 108.7 lithium-ion NMC battery packs featuring large cell-to-pack technology, whose CLTC range is 919 km with an energy consumption ratio of 13.6 kWh per 100 kilometers. It supports DC chargers up to 400 kW, which are capable of adding 400 kilometers of range on the CLTC condition with just 10 minutes of charging. Compared to the previous-generation model, its charging efficiency has increased by 30 percent.
The length is 4,885 mm with a wheelbase of 3,005 mm; the width is 1,895 mm, and the height is 1,635 mm. It features an illuminated 3D kidney grille giving the modern touch; slim LED headlights with the digital angel eye lighting signature to make it recognizable even from a distance; a BMW logo on the sculpted bonnet to enhance the modern appearance and reflect branding; and active lower air intakes to keep the battery pack and electric motor cool.
The sides get A-pillar-mounted double-channel outside review mirrors, which are electronically adjustable and foldable. Features semi-flush-type door handles to reduce drag and improve efficiency, squared-off black wheel arch cladding to add ruggedness to the side view, ten-spoke large alloy wheels enhancing the road presence, and blacked-out pillars to create a floating effect.
Its rear boasts 3D ‘Feather’ LED taillamps in a horizontal shape and black trim integrated vertical side reflectors, which make the vehicle visible to other road users even if the rear lights are turned off. Other notable features on the exterior are the BMW logo on the tailgate, black bumper cladding, and a roof-integrated spoiler with the stop light, which lights up whenever the brakes are applied.
All set to be available with nine exterior color options, including Mineral White, Polar Day Grey, and Flame Red; six other options are yet to be revealed. The interior comes with four themes, which are Light White, Cognac, Blue and Light Grey, and Black. Available with a seating capacity of 5 people in a traditional 2-3 layout with decent boot space, which helps in carrying luggage.
Inside, it has a BMW Panoramic iDrive digital cockpit with BMW Operating System X. Notably, the panoramic screen is available on the base of the windshield, showing all driving data. It also features a 3D augmented reality head-up display, which projects the crucial driving-related information on the windshield so the driver won’t have to look at the dashboard base for any details.
Other notable features inside the cabin are a wireless phone charging pad, multiple USB Type-C charging ports, and a 17.9-inch high-definition central touchscreen angled 17.5° toward the driver, which supports wireless connectivity via Huawei HiCar and Apple CarPlay. Also features an AI-based voice assistant with Alibaba’s large language model and DeepSeek reasoning capabilities and over-the-air software updates.
