Xiaomi Auto will soon introduce two extended-range electric vehicles in the Chinese market under the newly introduced Skynomad lineup; they are the Skynomad N70 and Skynomad N90. Previous reports suggest that the Skynomad is a sub-brand under Xiaomi Auto; now they have made it clear that it is a comfort-focused vehicle series.
The N70 and N90 under the Skynomad from Xiaomi Auto are revealed through the latest China MIIT catalogue release. In terms of exterior design, both are identical, but size and technical details are slightly different from one another. Let’s have a closer look at the exterior design.
- Upfront, it has a closed-off grille with SKYNOMAD lettering, the edge of which gets a slim, horizontal-shaped DRL, and below and above the daylight running light strip, it has main headlamps. Other head features are the Xiaomi auto logo on the bonnet, the roof-mounted LIDAR sensor, the bumper-integrated air intakes with vertical slats, the side air curtains, and the silver skid plate beneath the bumper.
- On the sides, it boasts flared wheel arches with the larger alloy wheels, front-door-integrated outside rear-view mirrors, flush-type door handles, and blacked-out pillars.
- At the back. It has two full-width LED taillights on the tailgate, C-shaped taillamps at the corners, a roof-integrated spoiler, a silver skid plate on the rugged bumper with the horizontal side reflector, and SKYNOMAD lettering on the tailgate.
The N70 will make its debut with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout, and the N90 will also have 7 people in 2-3-2 arrangements. The former one’s length is 4,960 mm with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm; its width is 1,998 mm, and its height is 1,785 mm. The latter one measures 5,285 mm in length with a 3,080 mm distance between the axles, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,825 mm in height. Other dimensions are the following:

Through China’s MIIT filing, we got to know that Xiaomi Auto will introduce the N70 and N90 in two variants, which are Standard and Max. The standard one has only N70/N90 lettering on the tailgate, but the Max has both N70/N90 Max lettering.
Both variants of the N70 and N90 get a 112 kW (150 hp) 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol-powered internal combustion engine, whose code is M15DRE. Notably, the ICE used in these two models is manufactured by Harbin Dong’an Auto Engine Co. It is a generator that generates electricity for batteries and electronics; it does not move the wheels that we see in the PHEVs.
The standard variant of each gets only one electric motor on the rear axle that is mated with a single-speed reduction gear, whose power output is 210 kW (282 hp). The Max variants feature the same electric motor on the rear axle with an additional 100 kW (134 hp) e-motor on the front axle. The combined power output is 310 kW (416 hp).
The top speed for both variants of the N70 and N90 is 190 km/h. The fuel efficiency when the battery is depleted is 5.8 litres per 100 km for the standard and 6.2 litres per 100 km for the Max variant. The standard one’s drivetrain is rear-wheel-drive, and Max’s is all-wheel-drive. The RWD variant of each model gets a 52 kWh LFP battery pack from Sunwoda, and AWD features a 76 kWh NMC from CALB.
The emission-free CLTC range for N70 with standard and max variants is 270 km and 380 km, respectively, but the same for N90 is 260 km for the standard variant and 370 for the max. The combined range is only available for the N90 Max when the battery pack is fully charged, and even when the fuel tank is full, it can run up to 1500 km.
