The Japanese automobile and scooter manufacturer Yamaha Motor launched the Yamaha FZ Flex Fuel on July 10, 2026, with the ex-showroom price of ₹1,24,240; it is ₹9,480 costlier than the Yamaha FZ. It is available through Yamaha Blue Square dealerships in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
With the launch, the Yamaha FZ Flex Fuel became the fourth model to enter the segment after Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel, Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel, and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 Flex Fuel. The recently introduced bike from Yamaha Motor can run on any fuel with E20 to E85, where ‘E’ stands for ethanol and ’20’ or ’85’ reflects the percentage of ethanol mixed with the petrol.
Get a 149cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder internal combustion engine that is mated with a five-speed manual transmission, which generates the power of 11.7 hp at 7,250 rpm and 12.8 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Compared to the Yamaha FZ, its power dropped by 0.7 hp and torque by 0.5 Nm because of the lower energy density of petrol.
The manufacturer has not yet revealed the acceleration timing; the E20-compliant variant takes 6.2 seconds to sprint from 0 to 60 km/h, so we are expecting the next fuel version will take around 7 seconds to do so. Top speed is still pending but likely to remain similar to the standard variant, which is 115 km/h.
Details regarding the mileage are still unavailable in the public domain. The FZ E20 version gives a mileage of 45 to 50 km/L depending on the road condition and driving style. The flex-fuel version will give different mileage depending on the fuel type. A report from the Times of India claims that with the use of E85 fuel, the mileage dropped up to 30%.
The 30% drop in mileage is huge, though E85 fuel is cheaper than E20 fuel. If a 30% mileage drop is calculated from the 45 km/l to 50 km/l mileage, then with the E85 fuel, the recently introduced flex-fuel model will give the fuel efficiency of 31.5 km/l to 35 km/l.
Notably, overall, the flex-fuel Yamaha FZ is the same motorcycle; they have introduced this model by recalibrating its internal combustion engine with flex-fuel-compatible components to make it E85-fuel compatible. The dimensions are 1,990 mm, 780 mm, and 1,080 mm in terms of length, width, and height, respectively.
The wheelbase is 1,080 mm, seat height is 790 mm, and ground clearance is 130 mm, 30 mm less than the standard version. The fuel tank capacity is the same, 13 litres, but because of the changes in components to make it E85-compatible, its kerb weight has increased by 4 kg; now it is 139 kg.
It is built on the Yamaha FZ platform using the diamond-type frame, whose front and rear suspension are a telescopic fork and a 7-step adjustable monoshock, respectively. The front wheel has a 282 mm disc brake with a single-channel anti-locking braking system, which prevents the wheel from getting locked during sudden braking, and the rear is a 220 mm disc.
Both front and rear are alloy wheels with a 17-inch size, whose front and rear tyres are 140/60 and 100/80, respectively. It comes with LED headlights, taillamps, and wide indicators. Other notable features are a single-piece seat for better comfort for both rider and pillion, split grab rails, a fully digital LCD instrument cluster at the centre of the handlebars, and a Traction Control System.
