June 2026 sales figures for electric cars are now officially out. A total of 31,823 units were sold. On a month-on-month basis, the sales increased by 16,505, registering a growth of 107.75%, and on a year-on-year basis, they increased by 5,141 units, recording a hike of 19.27%. The brand-wise passenger electric vehicle sales figures for June 2026 are shared in the table with market share.

The brand that sold the most units is Tata Motors, with 12,187 units covering 38.3% market share. They have registered significant growth because of the Tata Tigor EV facelift that was introduced on May 27, 2026, and also because of an increase in demand for the electric vehicle. Notably, among the top brands that sold the most passenger EVs in June 2026, Hyundai is the only company that registered a month-on-month decline.
Mahindra Auto is in the second position in electric car sales. They have sold 7,766 units, which translates to 24.4% of total sales. In 2026, they haven’t introduced any model, but reports suggest that they will launch the BE 7 in August; however, official confirmation is awaited. Because of increasing EV demand in India, they have also recorded a good MoM. Their sales figures may see a spike following the addition of a new model in their EV line-up.
JSW MG Motor India sold a total of 5,861 units with 18.42% market share. As of now, there are only three EV models. The model that helped the brand hold the third position in the sales ranking is the Windsor EV. Soon they will introduce an electrified SUV in India, but it won’t be purely electric. Reportedly, they are going to unveil a plug-in hybrid electric on July 16, 2026, which may be a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560.
Maruti Suzuki has only one model in their electric vehicle portfolio, that is, the eVitara. They have sold a total of 1,919 units with a market share of 6.03%, which places them in the 4th position in the brand-wise electric vehicle sales ranking. The 5th company that sold the most units is VinFast; they have sold 1,404 units with a 4.41% share in total sales.
Month-on-month Growth

On a month-on-month basis, the sale of Tata Motors has increased by 1,847 units, registering growth of 17.86%; Mahindra Auto, by 1,556 and 25.06%; JSW MG Motors India, by 877 and 17.6%; Maruti Suzuki, by 328 and 20.62%; VinFast, by 166 and 13.41%; BYD, by 187 and 27.26 units; BMW, by 145 and 41.19%; Kia, by 100 and 28.65%; Mercedes, by 26 and 12.5%; Volvo, by 8 and 27.59%; and Tesla, by 2 and 5.71%.
Toyota introduced its first electric vehicle model, Urban Cruiser Ebella, for the Indian market on May 29, 2026. They sold only 32 units, so the month-on-month growth data is applicable for it. Notably, Hyundai sales have decreased by 108 units, registering a degrowth of 23.48%, and besides the above-mentioned brands, other sales also see a decline by 27 units, marking a 15.17% degrowth.
Year-on-year growth

Tesla, Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, and VinFast are the brands that have 0 sales in June 2025 because they have not started the sale of any electric car. Hyundai and Citroën are the two brands that have registered a year-on-year decline. The former’s sales have reduced by 244 units, registering a degrowth of 40.94%, and the latter’s, by 76 units, or 76%.
Tata Motors, Mahindra Auto, JSW MG Motors India, BYD, BMW, Kia, Mercedes, Volvo, and others’ sales have increased by 6,812 units with 126.73%; 4,253 with 121.06%; 1,170 with 24.94%; 121 with 107.08%; 11 with 42.31%; and 117 with 344.12%, respectively, on a year-on-year basis.
