Tata Beats Mahindra by 1,683 Units: June 2026 PV Sales Data

India’s June 2026 domestic passenger vehicle sales figures are now officially out. A total of 382,164 units have been sold, including only the top 10 carmakers: Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, Toyota, Kia, MG, Honda, Renault, and Nissan. The table below carries the top 10 brand-wise numbers of sales for June 2026 with shares out of the sum of the top 10.

In May 2026 and June 2025, the sum of these ten carmakers’ sales was 431,665 and 309,576, respectively. Compared to May 2026, in June 2026 the sales have decreased by 49,501 units, registering a month-on-month decline of 12.95%, but compared to June 2025, they have increased by 72,588, registering a year-on-year growth of 23.45%.

In the top ten, 5 carmakers have registered positive month-on-month growth, and the other five’s sales have declined. The manufacturers who recorded an increase in June 2026 are Tata, Mahindra, MG, Honda, and Nissan, with MoM growth of 5.05%, 4.09%, 25.13%, 2.58%, and 1.97%, respectively.

On the other hand, the sales of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Toyota, Kia, and Renault have declined by 22.67%, 17.15%, 6.98%, 11.00%, and 1.22%, respectively, in June 2026 on a month-on-month basis. On a year-on-year basis, only the carmaker, Hyundai, registered a decline, by 9.97%.

And the companies registered a growth on a year-on-year basis are Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra, Toyota, Kia, MG, Honda, Renault, and Nissan, with 23.78%, 67.40%, 27.66%, 7.52%, 19.04%, 29.83%, 13.53%, 54.78%, and 42.67%, respectively.

Top 10 Domestic Passenger Vehicle Sales June 2026: By Torqueanalyst

In June 2026, the automobile manufacturer that achieved the 1st position in domestic passenger car sales was Maruti Suzuki, with sales of 147,187 units. On a month-on-month basis, its sales have decreased by 43,150, registering a decline of 22.67%, but year-on-year, it has increased by 28,281 units with a boost of 23.78%.

The second rank holder is Tata with 62,076 units, registering month-on-month growth of 5.05% with 2,986 more sales; it also has recovered from a year-on-year boost of 67.40% with a 24,993 sales increase. Notably, out of total sales for domestic passenger vehicles, more than 14,000 units are for electric cars.

Tata’s sales increased because of the launch of two new facelifts in May 2026; they introduced the Tiago and Tiago EV with affordable pricing and smart features, which make them more appealing compared to their rivals. We are expecting that sales in July 2026 to increase more because, on June 30, 2026, they added a new model, the Sierra EV, to their electric vehicle lineup.

Mahindra is the carmaker that holds the third position in June 2026 domestic passenger vehicle sales with 60,393 units. On a month-on-month and year-on-year basis, the sales for this car have increased by 2,372 units, registering an increase of 4.09%, and 13,087 units, with 27.66%, respectively.

The carmaker that secured fourth in the top 10 domestic PV sales is Hyundai, with 8,202 units. On a month-on-month basis, it has registered a decline of 17.15% to 8,202 units, and even on a year-on-year basis, they have registered a decline of 9.97% to 4,389 units.

The fifth model in the best-selling passenger vehicles in the domestic market is the Toyota, with 28,441 units sold. It has registered a month-on-month degrowth of 6.98% and 2,133 units, but on a year-on-year basis, the sales have increased by 1,988 units, recording a boost of 7.52%.
