Renault India will soon launch the new-generation Renault Duster, a seven-seater sport utility vehicle, in the Indian market. Once again its spy shots are floating on the web, in which the vehicle is highly camouflaged.
The five-seater version is already available for sale in the Indian market, and they are likely to introduce the seven-seater in early 2027. Following the launch, it will compete with the Mahindra XUV7XO, the Tata Safari, and the Hyundai Alcazar.
The upcoming Duster with a seating capacity of 7 people was spotted testing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Even though the test mule is under the cover, it reveals many details. Let’s have a closer look at the same.
Exterior and design
Upfront, it will feature integrated LED headlights and daylight running lights. DRLs are placed above the main headlights, making the front fascia modern. Other highlights of the front end are its upright stance, wide grille in black color, and rugged bumper.
On the sides, it will get a conventional handle for the front door for better practicality, a C-pillar integrated for the rear to improve aerodynamics, wheel arch cladding adding ruggedness, large alloy wheels enhancing road presence, a front door-integrated large outside rear-view mirror for a clear rear view, and roof rails that help in carrying the luggage on the roof.
The rear is set to boast a roof-mounted spoiler above the windshield to improve the airflow, which helps in keeping the car stable even at high speeds, and a rugged bumper to add SUV characteristics.
Seating and comfort and convenience features

This seven-seater will come with a seating layout of 2-3-3 with a little cargo space behind the third row, which may help with carrying up to two small pieces of luggage. Notably, the rear seats will be foldable; doing so will create a decent boot space for carrying multiple pieces of luggage when only five people are traveling.
Inside, it is likely to get ventilated and electronically front-sided with premium upholstery for better seating comfort; the first row will get dashboard-integrated AC vents, but the second and third rows may feature ceiling-mounted ones.
Also expected to get a wireless phone charging pad, automatic climate control, keyless entry, a push-button start and stop feature, a panoramic sunroof with UV protection, ambient lighting, a large glovebox, a Level 2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
Infotainment system and digital instrument cluster
The interior isn’t yet revealed. Many reports suggest that the center of the dashboard will feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will release OTA software updates, connected car technology, and wireless multi-device connectivity and be set to be integrated with a premium sound system.
Before the driving seat, there will be a steering wheel that will feature physical buttons and the Renault logo. Under the same, a horizontal 10-inch fully digital instrument cluster is expected, showing all the driving data, including turn-by-turn navigation.
Engine options and performance details
The seven-seater version of the Renault Duster is expected to borrow the powertrain from the one already on sale with a five-person seating layout. It may get a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that is mated with a 6-speed manual and generates the power of up to 100 ps and peak torque of 166 Nm.
The second engine option is a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol with 6-speed manual and 6-speed DCT transmission options, which generates the peak power of 163 PS and torque of 280 Nm, and the third is a 1.8-liter E-Tech strong hybrid with a multi-mode hybrid automatic gearbox; it can generate power up to 160 PS and peak torque up to 172 Nm.
