2026 Hongqi H5 Arriving On May 20 With Dragon Whisker DRLs & 224 hp Engine
The FAW Group’s premium luxury car division, Hongqi, has released the official images of the 2026 model of the premium executive sedan, Hongqi H5. Reportedly, it comes with the technology and premium-experience upgrades, and they are all set to be introduced in the domestic market on May 20, 2026.
The outgoing model is available with the ex-showroom price of ¥159,800 to ¥225,800, which translates to ₹18.5 lakh to ₹26 lakh; the upcoming one is set to be a little costlier than it. The price for the 2026 model isn’t yet revealed but may range from ¥165,000 to ¥240,000, equivalent to ₹19.5 lakh to ₹28.5 lakh.
The 2026 Hongqi H5 is set to be introduced with many exterior design changes. Up front, it gets new ‘Dragon Whisker’ LED DRLs, giving it a sharper and futuristic appearance, and an illuminated Hongqi emblem on the hood reflecting the brand’s identity, which makes its front-end design similar to its sibling, Hongqi H9.

On the sides, it features ‘Victory Bloom’ gunmetal multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, replacing the old ones, which improves road presence; and at the rear, it features ‘Phoenix Tail’ taillights, which create the visual symmetry with the front daylight running lights.
Dimensionally, it remains the same as the outgoing model; it measures 4988 mm in length, 1875 mm in width, 1470 mm in height and 2920 mm in wheelbase. The signature vertical-bar chrome grille is retained, which makes the front fascia modern, and door handles also remain mechanical to ensure better practicality in case of freezing temperatures.
Even its interior comes with many upgrades. Now, it is equipped with the 15.6-inch 2.5K floating touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard, the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel, and the head-up display projecting primary driving data on the windscreen; they are powered by the Snapdragon 8155P chip.
The information system supports wireless connectivity via Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and Carlink and AI-based voice interaction. Also comes with the Sinan Intelligent Driving System, which features Highway Navigation Pilot, urban memory-based navigation assist and path-tracing reverse assist.

All set to be introduced with the same seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2 and 3. The front seats are electrically adjustable with the memory function; they also feature heating, ventilation and lumbar support. Behind the rear seat, there’s a boot space which is capable of carrying multiple pieces of luggage.
The rear seats come with separate AC vents for cooling, a fold-down centre armrest to ensure better comfort, USB charging ports for cooling, and large knee room for a spacious feel. Other notable features are ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless phone charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, and acoustic glass.
The ICE powertrain is set to be retained; the internal combustion engine options are 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol. The former is bolted with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox, whose power output and peak torque are 169 hp and 258 Nm, respectively, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 9 seconds. Its drivetrain is front-wheel drive, and fuel efficiency is 16.13 kmpl on the WLTC scale.
The latter is mounted with an Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission; it generates the maximum power of 224 hp and peak torque of 340 Nm. Its drivetrain is front-wheel drive. Its 0 to 100 km/h acceleration timing is 8 seconds, which reaches the speed of 230 km/h. Reportedly, they are also going to launch it as a plug-in hybrid vehicle, which will get a 1.5-litre petrol engine, an electric motor on the front axle and a small battery pack.
