Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Planning New MPVs for India: Price, Specs and Details
In the financial year 2025-26, in India, a total number of 479,389 MPVs were registered with RTOs across the country, which reflects the 7.3% increase compared to last year. Seeing the trend, Maruti Suzuki, the subsidiary of Japanese automobile maker Suzuki Motor Corporation, and the South Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motors are planning to launch new MPVs in the Indian market.
The Maruti Suzuki’s new MPV is set to be based on the Suzuki Solio that is available for sale in Japan with a starting price of 1,926,100 Japanese yen; and reportedly Hyundai Motor is planning to introduce a new MPV that will be based on the Hyundai Stargazer, already on sale in the Indonesian market with prices ranging from Rp 258.2 million to Rp 331.9 million. Maruti Suzuki’s MPV

The MPV that Maruti Suzuki is going to launch in the Indian market is codenamed ‘YVF’, which will be introduced as a sub-4-metre vehicle for drivers to avail themselves of the benefit of a lower tax bracket. Its Indian launch is expected between late 2026 and early 2027 with the ex-showroom price between ₹6 lakh and ₹9 lakh.
The new multi-purpose vehicle from Maruti Suzuki is set to be based on the Suzuki Solio, which measures 3,790 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width and 1,745 mm in height. The wheelbase is set to be 2,480 mm, and ground clearance is expected to be around 180 mm to meet Indian road conditions.
It will come with a seating capacity of 7 people in a layout of 2-3-2. The boot space is expected to be around 150 litres with all seats up; the cargo can be expanded by folding down the third-row and second-row seats, depending on the need. The interior may get a large screen information system, rear AC vents, and automatic climate control.
It may come with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-series petrol (Z12E) engine and an electric motor whose expected power output/peak torque is 82 PS/112 Nm and 14 PS/30 Nm, respectively. It will come with a front-wheel drive drivetrain and continuously variable transmission. Its mileage (fuel efficiency) is expected to be more than 25 kmpl.
Hyundai Motors’ MPV

Hyundai Motors may come up with a new MPV for the Indian market with the price under ₹20 lakh. The brand will introduce it with a seating capacity of 6 people and 7 people with a configuration of 2-2-2, featuring second-row captain’s seats, and 2-3-2, respectively. Its launch in India may happen in the next few months, with reports that it may make its debut in late-2026.
As the new MPV from Hyundai Motors is set to be based on the Hyundai Stargazer. Dimensionally, it will measure the same with a length, width and height of 4,460 mm, 1,780 mm and 1,695 mm, respectively. The wheelbase is expected to be 2,780 mm and ground clearance around 200 mm. It features a boot space of around 200 litres, which will be expandable with folding seats.
The interior is set to be equipped with a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard featuring touch-based control and also set to get a fully digital instrument cluster that shows all the driving data on the screen. Also expected to get ambient lighting, a wireless charger, an air purifier and other smart features.
Expected to get a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder Smartstream Petrol engine, whose power output is 115 PS and peak torque is 144 Nm. It may feature two transmission options that are a six-speed manual and an Intelligent Variable Transmission. Its drivetrain will also be front-wheel drive and estimated to give a mileage of 18 kmpl.
