New Range Rover SV Ultra

The British automobile manufacturer Land Rover revealed the Range Rover SV Ultra via a press release; it is a new addition to the Range Rover line-up, which is positioned above the Range Rover SV, a high-end luxury SUV

It is introduced with both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and plug-in hybrid powertrain, which costs R6,850,000 (411,028 USD) and R7,420,000 (445,230 USD) in South Africa, respectively.

Compared to the Range Rover SUV, the trim that sits at the top of the line-up comes with in-cabin upgrades to enhance comfort and convenience for occupants. In terms of design and layout, it remains the same.

Interior & Features

New Range Rover SV Ultra interior

The cabin features a double-tone theme with Orchid White and Cinder Grey and Mosaic perforated seats that get laser-crafted patterns for a premium look. It comes with a Body and Soul Seat (BASS) that converts music to vibration and helps in reducing fatigue and a Sensory Floor creating full-body vibration feedback that makes the sound feel not only heard.

A total of six types of wellness modes are introduced for relaxation, focus, and calmness that sync with vibration, audio, and lighting. Other notable comfort features are 4-zone climate control, a cabin air purification system, electrically operated rear sunblinds, and configurable ambient lighting. At the center of the dashboard, there’s a 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is used to control the interior and vehicle settings.

Also get a 13.7-inch digital driver display, i.e., a digital instrument cluster, under the steering wheel that shows driving details, and even a Head-Up Display (HUD) is available that projects navigation and speed on the windshield so the driver stays focused on driving. For connectivity, it gets wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth, and AI-based voice control.

Get a 21-speaker SV electrostatic sound system, which includes ultra-thin speakers in headrests, seatbacks, and roof lining, which works with the BASS and sensory floor. It comes with a four-person seating capacity with the executive-style seat featuring a wireless phone charging pad. For rear seating passengers’ entertainment, there’s also a 13.1-inch touchscreen.

The vehicle features a striking Titan Silver paint job, rivaling the presence of other upcoming flagships like the Lexus Three-Row Electric SUV TZ, which also emphasizes a futuristic mirror-like finish. Upfront, it gets a minimalist grille with the satin platinum detailing, slim LED headlamps that give it a sleek and modern look, and a bumper with a smooth design to emphasize the luxuriousness of the vehicle.

On the sides, it gets the brand’s signature floating roof, flush door handles to reduce drag, improved aerodynamics and premium touch, and 23-inch alloy wheels with satin platinum inserts for a strong stance. At the rear, it features slim horizontal LED taillamps, a clean tailgate, SV Ultra badging to reflect identity, and hidden exhaust outlets.

Powertrain & Performance

The one that comes with the ICE powertrain gets a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine whose power output and peak torque are 537 hp (395 kW) and 750 Nm (553.17 lb-ft), respectively. The drivetrain is all-wheel drive, and the transmission is an eight-speed automatic. The acceleration timing for 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) is 4.9 seconds, top speed goes up to 261 km/h (162 mph), and fuel efficiency is 7-8 km/L (16.5-18.8 mpg).

On the other hand, the car with a plug-in hybrid powertrain features a 3.0-liter inline-6 petrol engine and two motors, one on each axle, featuring an all-wheel drive configuration and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It generates the power of 543 hp (405 KW) and torque of 800 Nm (590 lb-ft).
