Geely’s Smart Starts Presale For #6 EHD with $27,790 Entry Price Ahead of June 2026 Launch

The Smart, a joint venture of Chinese automaker Geely and German auto manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, has officially started the presale for the #6 EHD, a plug-in hybrid mid-size sedan, from April 24, 2026, for multiple variants. Its price starts from CN¥189,900, which is equivalent to US$27,790. Its launch is expected in June 2026.

Seating, Boot & Size 

The vehicle comes with a seating capacity of five people in a layout of two and three. The boot space is yet to be revealed; however, as it measures 4,906 mm in length, it is expected to have a cargo of around 500 liters. It has a wheelbase of 2,926 mm, so even rear-seating passengers get ample legroom. 

The width of 1,922 mm and height of 1,508 mm give good shoulder room and headroom, respectively, so even during a large journey, any of the rear seating passengers don’t feel uncomfortable. The ground clearance is yet to be revealed but is likely to be around 140, a good figure to easily pass the potholes.

Engine Specification, Motor Setup & Battery Pack 

The #6 EHD gets a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 petrol engine, and it is binned with a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle. The step-by-step makes it a front-wheel-drive car, and it has a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. The engine’s power output is 120 kW (161 hp) and the motor’s is 200 kW (268 hp), and combined they generate the power of 320 kW (429 hp).

It gets a battery pack of 61.46 kWh, whose all-electric range is 285 km on full charge in the CLTC condition. Its top speed goes up to 200 km/h, and acceleration timing for 0-100 km is 6.7 seconds. Since it’s a PHEV, it also gets a large fuel tank with good mileage features. Fuel-only range is 1525 km, meaning its overall range is 1810 km. The support DC fast charger takes within half an hour with around an 80 kW charger.

Color Options, Exterior & Design 

The #6 EHD is available with five color options with the mix of elegant tones and youthful and vibrant options: moon porcelain white, particle white, spacetime blue, pulse yellow, and matte grey. It is based on the ‘Sensual Purity’ design language, focusing on clean surfaces, minimal lines, and sculptural shapes. 

Up front, it gets shark-nose styling to make its appearance dynamic, shark-kiss through-type air duct for cooling, and full-width light bar 4,508 micro-dots with 20 preset animations and hand-drawn costume lighting patterns, which are connected with the headlights to give it a modern look and wide stance.

On the sides, it gets a smooth coupe-like roofline, flush-type door handles, and 19-inch Vortex and 20-inch Supernova wheels, depending on the variant. The back of the car gets a full-width 6,158 micro-dot LED taillight mirroring the front-end lighting signature and an active spoiler that is adjustable in stages up to a 34° angle.

Interior, Dashboard & Technology 

The #6 EHD is equipped with two-digit screens, one for the infotainment system of rear-seating passengers and another as an entertainment screen for front-seating passengers. It also gets a 25.6-inch AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display), which projects all the driving data on the windshield to ensure that the driver keeps his/her eyes on the road.

The screens are powered by the AMD V2000 cockpit chip, which enables fast UI response, smooth animations, and multi-screen operation. It gets a twenty-speaker Sennheiser premium sound system that supports Dolby Atmos and makes the cabin audio experience immersive. It features multi-color ambiance that syncs with the music and driving modes.

For occupants’ comfort, it comes with ventilated seats, heated seats, and multi-zone climate control. To make the driving semi-autonomous, it gets LiDAR-based ADAS, which features urban Navigate-on-Autopilot, automated parking, and intelligent obstacle avoidance.
