3 Upcoming Nissan SUVs In India By 2029: Patrol, Terrano & New 3-Row SUV

Nissan Motor India planned to launch three sport utility vehicles in the Indian market by 2029; they are the Nissan three-row C-segment SUV, the Nissan Patrol, and the Nissan Terrano. Among them, the launch of the first two models will take place in 2027, and the last one in 2029. Let’s have a closer look at each of these upcoming SUVs.

Nissan three-row C-segment SUV

The upcoming C-segment SUV from Nissan is set to be available with the seating layout of seven and six people; the nameplate of this SUV is still pending. In the company’s portfolio, it is placed above the Nissan Tekton. They will position this car to the Indian market as a family SUV, which is looking for a car with seating capacity up to 6 or 7 people and decent cargo space with a folded seat.

After the launch, this Nissan three-row SUV will compete with the Hyundai Alcazar and other three-row midsize SUVs. Details regarding its size are still unconfirmed. The length may be 4.6 meters with the wheelbase of 2.7 meters. This SUV is most likely to be powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol-powered ICE; the transmission options of 6MT and 6AT both are anticipated.

Nissan Patrol

The Nissan Patrol is an upcoming full-size body-on-frame SUV whose launch in the Indian market is certain as a rival to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300. This SUV may arrive in the Indian market via the CBU route. The seventh-generation Nissan Patrol (Y63) made its global debut on 3 September 2024 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and also 2.5 years after that, its launch will happen in India, as the most expected date for its launch is the second quarter of 2027.

The length is 5,350 mm with a 3,075 mm wheelbase, the width is 2,350 mm, and the height is 1,945 mm. It is an eight-seater in a 2-3-3 layout. It comes with the large fuel tank of 97 liters. Under the hood, it has a 3,492 cc 3.5 L twin-turbocharged V6 ICE that delivers 425 hp power at 5,600 rpm and 700 Nm torque at 3,600 rpm. Its transmission is nine-speed automatic, and its drivetrain is all-wheel drive.

Nissan Terrano

The Nissan Terrano is also being considered for the Indian market. The concept version of this car has already been showcased at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. The carmaker will launch this D-segment SUV with the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Its production model may be unveiled somewhere in 2027, which will highly resemble the design of the concept that comes with the rugged and boxy design.

If it comes to the Indian market, it will give tough competition to the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. The nameplate was available for sale in the Indian market between 2013 and 2020. This off-road SUV will make its comeback as next-generation. Besides the plug-in hybrid electric powertrain, the option for the pure ICE and strong hybrid may also be offered. In size, it will be around 4.5 meters longer with the wheelbase of around 2.7 meters.

As of August 2026, Nissan is selling only four nameplates in the Indian market; they are the Nissan Magnite, a compact SUV; the Nissan Gravite, a 7-seat MPV; the Nissan Tekton, a C-segment SUV; and the Nissan X-Trail, a premium SUV. Its sale in July 2026, a total of 4,518 units have been sold, excluding Nissan X-Trail, as the sales figures are still pending; on the year-on-year and month-on-month basis, they registered the growth of 218% and 50%, respectively.
