Yamaha R15 V4, the fair-aid sports motorcycle, which is available for sale in the Indian market with the ex-showroom price between ₹1.73 lakh and ₹1.78 lakh in total of seven colours. Yamaha Motor has recently updated its offering. Earlier this motorcycle was available with the quickshifter with only the one colour option, Intensity White.
Now, they are also offering it with two other colour options, which are Racing Blue and Matte Pearl White. The quickshifter that was available with the only colour option and now has been introduced in two others is the unidirectional quickshifter, which enables only clutchless upshift; for downshifts, the rider still needs to use the clutch.
By introducing this feature with these two new colour options, the company has provided more options to buyers to choose from. The price for these two other colour options still remains the same; there’s no increase. There are two colours that recently got unidirectional quickshifters available with the ex-showroom price of ₹1.78 lakh.
Other changes?
Apart from the addition of a quickshifter feature in two existing colours, this motorcycle remains the same. It is still powered by a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol-petrol internal combustion engine that is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox with the Assist and slipper clutch, and it can deliver 18.4 PS power at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm torque at 7,500 rpm.
The engine supports a fuel injection system to ensure the right amount of petrol into the engine’s intake air stream, and it is also equipped with Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation technology, which delivers stoney performance at higher revs. The list of this motorcycle on the company’s website confirms that it has a top speed of 140 kmph.
The ARAI-certified fuel efficiency is 51.4 kmpl, and the real-world is 37.2 kmpl for city driving, as per Autocar India testing, but on the highway it gives a mileage of around 50 kmpl. It has been officially confirmed that to accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph, it takes only 4.82 seconds, but the timing for a 0 to 100 kmph sprint is 13.25 seconds.
Its dimensions in terms of length, width, and height are 1,990 mm, 725 mm, and 1,135 mm, respectively, with the wheelbase of 1,325 mm and ground clearance of 170 mm. The seat of this motorcycle is 815 mm, and the kerb weight is 141 kg. The fuel tank capacity is 11 litres. With an average mileage of 40 kmpl, it can run up to 440 kilometres.
Its main rival.
The Yamaha R15 V4 nameplate made its debut in the Indian market back in September 2021, whose main competitor in the Indian market is the KTM RC 160, which is available for sale with the ex-showroom price of ₹2.0 lakh. This bike is powered by a 164.2 cc single-cylinder internal combustion engine that delivers 19 PS power at 9,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm torque at 7,500 rpm. Its engine is bolted with the six-speed manual transmission.
The length measures 1,965 mm, the width 701 mm, and the height 1,150 mm. Its seat height and ground clearance of this motorcycle are 830 mm and 168 mm, respectively, with a fuel tank of 13.75 litres. Its top speed is 118 kmph, and it took only 3.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph. This motorcycle features 37 mm inverted front forks and a rear monoshock and is equipped with the 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc.
