Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift Front-End Design Leaked, Gets Hilux-Inspired Look

The Toyota Innova Hycross, the three-row multipurpose vehicle, is available for sale in the Indian market from January 2023. Toyota India, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker Toyota, will soon launch a facelift of the same. This seven-/eight-seater MPV’s facelift has been spotted multiple times on public roads in India.

Recently, the manufacturer has patented its front-end grill designs; images of the same have been leaked online. These images show that the upcoming facelift will have black trim between the integrated headlight setup, the same we get to see on the recently launched ninth-generation Toyota Hilux pickup truck

The black trim’s center is set to have a Toyota logo for branding. Other things that also resemble its upfront designs with its pickup sibling are the diamond-style honeycomb grille, polygonal-shaped fog lamps on the sides, and slatted lower grille. The test mule spy image also hints at this upfront look for the upcoming Innova Hycross facelift.

What else do we know about its exterior?

There are many spy shots of the Toyota Innova Hycross facelift test mules, but all of these are camouflaged with zebra stripes even though a few have been revealed through them. The sides seem to be similar to the outgoing model, retaining squared-off wheel arch cladding, A-pillar-mounted outside rear-view mirror with side reflectors, and convenient door handles. A new alloy wheel design is confirmed in multiple reports.

The taillamps that we get to see in the spy shots are similar, and even the roof-integrated spoiler and windshield appear to be the same as earlier. At the rear, a few tweaks on its bumper are expected. As it is a facelift, there will be no changes to its dimensions. The length, width, and height are set to be 4,755 mm, 1,850 mm, and 1,790 mm, respectively, with the wheelbase of 2,850 mm and ground clearance of 185 mm.

Its cabin will also get upgrades and refreshments.

One spy image of the test mule has already revealed that the facelift will have a large touchscreen infotainment system replacing the 10.1-inch units. Notably, the option of a large screen is most anticipated to be available as standard for all variants. Besides this change, the dashboard may also be tweaked with more soft-touch material, and the seat upholstery is set to be improved to enhance seating comfort and cabin aesthetic.

Most features that are offered with the existing one will be retained to keep it a practical three-row car. Both the seven-seater in a 2-2-3 layout and the eight-seater in a 2-3-3 arrangement will be introduced to retain the cargo capacity of 991 liters when the third-row seats are folded. Safety features are most likely to be enhanced with the 360-degree camera and others. Other features that it may get are a powered front seat and more connected car technology.

Rest are set to remain the same as the earlier ones.

This multipurpose vehicle is built on Toyota’s new global architecture platform, featuring the front-wheel-drive drivetrain. They are set to offer a pure-petrol and a strong hybrid. The pure-petrol gets a 1,987 cc 2.0-liter 4-cylinder ICE with the Direct Shift CVT transmission that delivers the power of 174 PS and torque of 205 Nm. It takes 9.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.13 km/l.

The strong hybrid gets the same internal combustion engine but with a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The ICE and PMSM are bolted with the e-CVT gearbox. The power output is 152 PS for the engine and 153 for the motor, and torque is 187 Nm and 206 Nm for the ICE and PMSM, respectively; the combined power output is 186 PS. It also has a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 8.7 seconds for the hybrid, 0.8 seconds faster than the pure-petrol version. Its fuel efficiency is 23.24 km/l, and four driving modes are available for this powertrain: Normal, Eco, Power, and EV. Apart from the EV model, the three others are available for the pure-petrol powertrain.
