The blind presale for the Leapmotor A05, a five-door electric hatchback, began on July 27, 2026, with the fully refundable amount of 99 yuan. Anyone who exercises the blind pre-order is all set to get 5,000 exclusive energy points, which are expected to be redeemable as charging credits, vehicle accessories, maintenance or service packages, or membership perks.
The market launch for the A05 from Leapmotor is expected in August 2026 with the price between 80,000 yuan and 100,000 yuan, which translates to 11.33 lakh rupees to 14.16 lakh rupees. The delivery is all set to start within a month after that. After the launch, it will take on the BYD Seagull, the Geely Xingyuan, and the BYD Dolphin.
The length, width, and height of the A05 are 4,200 mm, 1,800 mm, and 1,560 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,605 mm, front and rear track are 1,525 mm, front overhang is 845 mm, rear overhang is 750 mm, approach angle is 14°, and departure angle is 24°. Sits on 16-inch wheels, with 205/55 tires.
Features a seating capacity of 5 people in traditional 2-3 layouts, which has a boot space of 474 liters behind the second row, which is expandable up to 1,308 liters by folding the rear seats. It also has 91 liters of underfloor storage, which helps with carrying small items conventionally.
Its front axle gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which is bolted to a single-speed automatic transmission. Since the electric motor is mounted under the hood, it features a front-wheel-drive drivetrain. They are set to offer this vehicle in the Chinese market with two different lithium-ion battery packs, which are 39.8 kWh and 53 kWh.

With the standard battery pack, the electric motor generates the power of 70 kW (94 hp), but the same with the larger battery pack is 90 kW (121 hp). Notably, the CLTC range is 405 km and 510 km for the variant(s) equipped with the 39.8 kWh and 53 kWh battery, respectively. The top speed is 160 km/h. Support DC charger, which takes 16 minutes for 30 to 80 percent charging.
Inside, it has an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen infotainment system. The entire cockpit runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, and the centrally mounted display is integrated with a 12-speaker premium audio system to ensure an immersive audio experience.
The cabin gets 33 storage compartments, including dedicated storage for sunglasses, earphones, tissues, and charging cables. Features five different seating modes, including Surfboard, Nap Recline, Double Bed, Pet & Moving, and Privacy Storage.
Outside, on the roof, it has a LIDAR sensor, a part of the intelligent driving assistant system, which features navigation autopilot for city driving and highway cruising. Upfront, it has slim LED headlights with integrated main headlamps and daylight running lights and lower active air intakes.
Other notable features on the exterior are pronounced wheel arches and lower body cladding, front door ORVMs with an indicator, flush-type door handles, five-spoke alloy wheels, a roof-integrated spoiler, smiley-face LED taillamps, and a horizontal-shaped reflector on the rear bumper cladding.
The Leapmotor also revealed the interior of the A05S, a sedan version of the existing A10, whose debut in the Chinese market is anticipated in the second half of 2026. Notably, it will come with the same powertrain and features as the A05. The most expected start of its presale is the last week of August 2026.
