The VIDA, the electric mobility brand of Hero MotoCorp, launched a new variant for the VX2 Plus, an electric scooter, with a larger battery pack. It is available with the ex-showroom price starting from ₹143,990. The newly introduced variant is known by the name of Vida VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh; it has two 2.2 kWh lithium-ion batteries, which are removable. Its range on the Indian driving cycle is 187 km, 45 mm more than the 3.4 kWh variant.
Get a swingarm-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor with automatic transmission, whose peak power output is 6 kW and torque is 26 Nm. Its 0 to 40 km/h acceleration timing is 3.1 seconds, and its top speed is 90 km/h. It features a hub-mounted electric drive with automatic transmission and belt drive. Available with three driving modes, they are Eco, Ride, and Sport.
It also features a reverse mode with a maximum of 3 km/h, and a boost mode helps the scooter to accelerate more quickly for a short duration. Support the 1 kW portable charger; it takes 5 hours 8 minutes for 0 to 100 percent charging and 3 hours 17 minutes for up to 80 percent. Also supports DC charging, which takes only 2 hours 30 minutes for a full charge and 65 minutes for 0 to 80 percent.
The overall length, width, and height are 1,860 mm, 730 mm, and 1,160 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase is 1,301 mm, and ground clearance is 155 mm. Features a seat height of 777 mm, giving a comfortable seating position for individuals with a height between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 7 inches. Its curb weight is 124 kg and can be easily handled even on roads with crowded traffic.
Features under-seat storage of 27.2 liters, which helps in carrying small luggage conventionally and can easily keep two helmets. It also has a trunk to carry small items conventionally, and even its size is quite long for two individuals, meaning both rider and pillion can sit comfortably. There are foldable footpegs on each side for pillion leg support and grab rails with cushioning at the end of the seat for back support and enhanced sitting comfort.
Both front and rear alloy wheels are 12 inches in size with tubeless tires of 90/90 in front and 100/80 in the rear. It has full LED lighting, including headlights for better visibility on the road when driving at nighttime, a taillight to make the bike visible to other road users, and side indicators to hint to the traffic below and ahead about the next move.
Other notable features are hazard lights, all four blinking simultaneously to alert road users about sudden braking; a pass-light switch that helps in overtaking other vehicles safely when necessary; and a side stand with a motor cut-off that doesn’t let the scooter start to ensure the safety of the driver and pillion until the side stand is folded.
Between the handlebars, there’s a 4.3-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, which shows a digital speedometer, digital odometer, trip meter, battery level indicator, clock, and other details. Also supports Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation and call and SMS alerts. The display also supports connected features with the over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
The scooter is built on a tubular steel frame, whose front suspension is telescopic forks and rear is a monoshock. The front brake is a disc, and the rear is a drum. Notably, the disc is more powerful than the drum and helps with strong braking and with better heat absorption. Also equipped with CBS, which disturbs the braking system between the wheels, is regenerative braking, which turns the braking force into electricity to charge back the battery.
