Hero MotorCorp, an Indian motorcycle and scooter manufacturer, will soon launch a mid-capacity adventure bike for the Indian market, and it is widely anticipated to be called Xpulse 421. The ShiftingGears has spotted it testing in Khardung La in Ladakh; the spy shots floating across the web show that it is standing ‘heavily camouflaged’ with another motorcycle from the brand.
As spotting takes place in Ladakh, a high-altitude region whose route has extreme weather conditions, low oxygen levels, and rough terrain, all these make ideal conditions for testing any adventure bike’s capabilities. With testing in this region, Hero Motocorp wants to ensure that this motorcycle is ready to be marketed as an adventure bike so buyers feel satisfied with it.
The spotting has revealed many details about this upcoming motorcycle. It gets a tall windscreen above the headlights, which deflects the wind away from the driver’s chest and makes riding comfortable; an upright seating position makes off-roading convenient, as it helps with easy standing on footpegs; handguards are mounted on the handlebars to reduce wind hitting the hands and also protect the brake and clutch.

Other design highlights are a long single-piece seat that gives better seating comfort for the rider and pillion, and makes the long journey convenient, because the one driving can easily move forward and backward for the comfort of the back; wired-spoke wheels to make it ideal for off-roading, as they are capable of absorbing impact and potholes efficiently; and a higher-mounted exhaust that gives it better ground clearance for off-roading.
Moreover, it features USD (Upside-Down) Forks with long travel suspension for better up-and-down movement, which helps in efficiently absorbing bumps, rocks, and potholes to provide a comfortable riding experience even in rough terrain. A metal-built luggage rack mounted behind the seat helps in carrying bags and camping gear, and large adventure-style fuel tanks provide a long riding range between the fuel stops.
The cockpit area gets a full-colour digital instrument screen with wireless connectivity via Bluetooth. It shows speed, RPM, fuel level, and trip information and turn-by-turn navigation and also features riding-mode settings. The front and rear wheels are 21 inches and 18 inches in size, respectively; both are equipped with the single disc brake to ensure powerful braking and better heat absorption. Features LED headlights, taillamps, and side indicators.

The manufacturer is yet to reveal the powertrain and performance details; it may get a 421cc single-cylinder DOHC liquid-cooling internal combustion engine, which is set to be mated with a six-speed manual in a 1-down and 5-up pattern with a slipper clutch and chain-drive drivetrain. May generate the power of 40-45 bhp and peak torque between 42 and 48 Nm. To accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph, it will take a time of under 5 seconds, and may go up to 150 kmph.
They will unveil this motorcycle at the International Cycle, Motorcycle, and Accessories Exhibition in November 2026; after that, its launch will happen for the Indian market somewhere in 2027. Prices are still pending; we expect that its ex-showroom price will range from ₹2.5 lakh to ₹2.75 lakh. Following the launch, it will compete with the BMW F 450 GS, KTM 390 Adventure, and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
