Under the ₹10 lakh segment, there are dozens of car models in India which are marketed as the best mileage cars. But among them, only a few are those that actually deliver their promises. Notably, the top 3 among them are the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, and the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. Let’s have a closer look at each car.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Ex-showroom price: ₹4.70 lakh to ₹6.73 lakh

Powered by a 998 cc 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder Next-Gen K10C Dual Jet Dual VVT petrol engine, whose power output is 67.77 bhp and peak torque is 91.1 Nm; but in CNG mode, it does 55.92 bhp and 82.1 Nm. Available with two transmission options: 5-Speed Manual and 5-Speed Automatic.

Notably, the pure petrol variants are available with both manual and automatic gearboxes, but the CNG comes with only a manual. The ARAI-certified mileage is 25.24 km/l for the petrol manual, 26.68 km/l for the petrol automatic, and 34.43 km/kg with the CNG manual.

The length, width and height are 3,695 mm, 1,655 mm and 1,555 mm, respectively; the wheelbase is 2,435 mm, and the ground clearance is 170 mm. The kerb weight ranges from 815 kg to 825 kg, depending on the variant, and the boot space is 313 litres behind the second row, which helps in carrying luggage.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Ex-showroom price: ₹3.50 lakh to ₹5.25 lakh

Under the hood, it gets a 998 cc 3-cylinder 1.0-litre Next-Gen K-Series Dual Jet Dual VVT petrol engine, which delivers the power of 65.71 bhp and 89 Nm torque, but in the CNG mode, the output is 56 bhp and 82 Nm. As a front-wheel-drive car, it is also offered with both two gearbox options that are 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmission.

The pure petrol variants are mated with both automatic and manual transmissions, but the CNG is only with the manual. Notably, the ARAI-certified mileage is 24.12 kmpl to 24.76 kmpl for petrol manual, 25.30 kmpl for petrol automatic, and 32.73 km/kg with CNG manual.

The length is 3,565 mm, width is 1,520 mm, and height ranges from 1,549 mm to 1,567 mm. Its wheelbase is 2,380 mm, and ground clearance is 180 mm. The kerb weight of pure petrol ranges from 726 kg to 775 kg, but the CNG variant weighs 831 kg to 854 kg.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR

Features 998 cc 1.0 liter 3-cylinder Dual Jet Dual VVT K10C Petrol engine under the hood, whose power output is 66 bhp and 91.1 Nm peak torque, but in the CNG mode, it delivers the power of 56 bhp and peak torque of 82.1 Nm. Notably, it is also offered with a 1197 cc 4-cylinder 1.2L Dual Jet Dual VVT K12N petrol engine, whose power output is 88.5 bhp and peak torque is 113 Nm; it doesn’t offer a factory-fitted CNG variant.

Both engine options are available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic gearbox; the CNG variants are only available with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.0L engine ARAI-certified fuel efficiency is 24.35 kmpl to 25.19 kmpl, but in the CNG mode, it runs up to 34.05 km/kg; on the other hand, the 1.2L engine option mileage is 23.56 kmpl to 24.43 kmpl.

Comes as a five-seater with boot space of 341 litres for the pure-petrol variant; for CNG, it is reduced slightly because of tanks. Its dimensions are 3,655 mm in length, 1,620 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height; the wheelbase is 2,435 mm, and ground clearance ranges from 165 mm to 170 mm.
