BYD’s Yangwang Reveals U9 Xtreme with New Paint Job and U8L in Four-Seater Layout

BYD’s flagship brand, Yangwang, has showcased special editions of the U8L, a full-size luxury SUV, and the U9 Xtreme supercar at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. The new U8L is revealed with the seating capacity of four people in a layout of 2 and 2, and the U9 Xtreme with a black and gold paint job. The aerodynamics, and performance upgrades are likely.

The pricing for any of the editions isn’t yet made public. Their launch in the Chinese market will happen soon. It is expected that the U8L will be priced around 1,300,000 to 1,350,000 yuan (190,161 to 197,475 US dollars), and the U9 Xtreme will be available in only 30 units, which is expected to cost near 1,900,000 yuan (277,928 US dollars).

The four-seater UL8 has been introduced as Ding Cang for the domestic market, which is based on the existing model. The brand’s sales division manager, Hu Xiaoqiang, said that they have come up with a new edition for the buyers looking for a vehicle with a more spacious cabin, and the U9 Xtreme is introduced with the new paint job for limited-edition exclusivity and to make it rare and collectible for owners.

Powertrain & Performance 

The full-size four-seater luxury SUV, U8L, is an EREV (extended range electric vehicle) featuring an engine, motors, and battery; and the U9 Xtreme, a two-door, two-seater, world’s fastest supercar, is a BEV (battery electric vehicle) that comes with motors and a battery.

Four-Seater UL8 

It is based on the BYD e⁴ platform and comes with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine and four permanent magnet synchronous motors, one on each wheel; the setup makes it an all-wheel drive vehicle. The combined power output of four motors is ~880 kW (≈1180 hp). Its acceleration timing for 0-100 km is 3.5 seconds and goes up to 200 km/h of top speed. 

Its electrical architecture is 800-volt and has a 56.58 kWh LFP Blade 2.0 battery, whose only-electric CLTC range is 230 km on a full charge, but the combined is 1205 km; it means its only-fuel range is 975 km with a full tank. It supports flash charging that takes only 7 minutes for 10-97% charging. 

Black & Gold Painted U9 Xtreme

It is built on BYD’s advanced e⁴ platform; the vehicle is equipped with four high-performance permanent magnet synchronous motors featuring an AWD drivetrain. One motor is binned with each wheel, which gets power from the high-voltage battery; the combined power output is 2220 kW (2977 hp).

The sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds, and its top speed is 496.22 km/h in under 7 minutes. As performance change is likely, it may get a large battery pack compared to standard, which will increase its range. It is built on 1200-volt electric architecture, which takes 5 minutes for 10-70% charging.

Dimensions & Exterior 

The length of the four-seater UL8 is the same as the existing six-seater. Its length, width, height, and wheelbase are 5400 mm, 2049 mm, 1921 mm, and 3250 mm, respectively. It features a ding-shaped LED front lighting, two-tone paint, 24K gold badges at the front and rear, 22–23 inch forged alloy wheels, a split tailgate, and hidden door handles.

Whereas the U9 Xtreme’s new edition measures 4966 mm in length, 2029 mm in width, 1295 mm in height, and 2900 mm in wheelbase, the same as the standard one. Up front, it gets sharp LED headlights and massive front air intakes; side skirts and signature butterfly doors in profile; and a large fixed rear wing, full-width LED light bar, and diffuser with deep channels at the back.
