Many automakers across the globe have introduced SUVs under the pricing you are looking for, claiming smart features and excellent performance, but only a few are those that actually delivered their promises.

On roads, you may get too many SUVs, including EVs, hybrids, and ICEs; you may like any of them and want to have one. But the one you own should be the SUV that actually meets your needs. Here, we have come up with 5 SUVs that cost under $40K.

The 2026 Honda CR-V’s standard trim, LX, is available with the price of $30,920. It is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine that generates the power and torque of 190 hp and 179 lb-ft. Its drivetrain is front-wheel drive, and transmission is continuously variable transmission. 

The fuel efficiency in the city is 28 mpg, and the same for the highway is 33 mpg. The acceleration timing for 0-60 mph is 8 seconds, and top speed goes up to 120 mph. It features three driving modes, and they are ECON, Normal, and Snow.

It gets a 9-inch touchscreen display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charging pad, push-button start, automatic climate control, a tilt & telescopic steering wheel, USB-A & USB-C ports, and others for comfort and convenience.

It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 9.6 seconds, and the maximum speed it can reach is 116 mph. Its mileage in city and highway is 24 mpg and 30 mpg, respectively. It features a seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3 and a boot space of 33.7 cubic feet that can carry 8 big pieces of luggage. 

It is based on Mazda’s Kodo design language. Up front it gets an aggressive grill and slim and sharper LED headlights. On the sides, it gets stylish alloy wheels, and the rear gets LED taillights and a modern tailgate. Its interior features a touch screen for infotainment with an 8-speaker audio system and much more.

The base variant of the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available in the US with a price of $36,600. It features a single PMS (permanent magnet synchronous) motor, which is mounted with a rear axle featuring a rear-wheel drive drivetrain.

It comes with a 63 kWh LPF battery pack, which generates the power and torque of 168 hp and 258 lb-ft, respectively. Its transmission is single-speed automatic. It has a top speed of 115 mph, and acceleration timing for 0-60 mph is 7 seconds.

In case of a full charge, it gives the EPA-certified range of 245 miles, making it ideal for daily use and city commuting. It supports a DC charger up to 250 kW, which takes 20 minutes for a 10-80% charge, and an AC charger up to 11 kW, which takes 5.5 hours for a full charge.

It comes with a PMS motor that is mounted with front axles featuring a front-wheel drive drivetrain, and its transmission is single-speed automatic. The motor generates the power of 214 hp and torque of 261 lb-ft; its top speed is 100 mph, and acceleration timing for 0-60 mph is 7.2 seconds.

It comes with a lithium-ion battery pack of 75 kWh, whose EPA-certified range is 303 miles in case of a full charge. It supports fast charging up to 150 kWh that takes 30 minutes for 10-80% charging. The AC of the 11 kW charger takes 7.5 hours for a full charge.

It comes with a 2.5L 4-cylinder (Atkinson-cycle petrol) engine, and there’s also an electric motor mounted with the front axle featuring an FWD drivetrain, and its transmission is e-CVT.

It generates the combined power of 226 hp, and the torque for the engine is 163 lb-ft and for the motor is 201 lb-ft. Its acceleration timing for 0-60 mph is 7.5 seconds, and top speed goes up to 112 mph. The fuel efficiency in the city is 48 mpg, and on the highway it is 42 mpg. 

The interior gets a 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 6-speaker audio system, and much more; and for safety it gets Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, which includes pre-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and other features.
