The Tata Tigor is available for sale in the Indian market from March 2017 with the petrol-powered internal combustion engine powertrain, the CNG option is available from January 2022, and the all-electric counterpart of the same went on sale in August 2021.
There has been talk for quite some time that its facelift is set to launch before the 2026 festive season. A recent report suggests that Tata.Cars is planning to rename the Tata Tigor nameplate for all three existing powertrains, meaning the upcoming facelifts would be known by another name that was found in trademark filing.
What can be the new name for the upcoming Tata Tigor facelift?
Currently, the Tata Tigor is available for sale in the Indian market with three different powertrains: pure petrol, CNG and battery electric. Tata.Cars have filed a trademark for the Tata Aeris; many trustable media reports suggest it would be used for the upcoming Tata Tigor facelifts. Although the carmaker is yet to confirm this.
In other words, we can say that the upcoming Tata Aeris will replace the Tata Tigor. If Tata.Cars rename the Tata Tigor nameplate with the Tata Aeris; it may help them to increase sedan sales numbers, strengthening its positioning in the sub-4-metre segment.
The manufacturers are most likely to launch the Tata Aeris as a new nameplate, discontinuing the Tata Tigor, but it is yet to be seen whether they will launch this sedan with all three existing powertrains or debut with only pure petrol.
In June 2026, the carmaker already patented an exterior design; these patent images resemble it to be the Tata Tigor facelift. When these patent images surfaced, we reported the same as the Tata Tigor facelift, but the recent developments suggest it is to be known by the name of Tata Aeris.

Any update on the launch date?
Recent reports don’t only suggest that the Tata Tigor name may be replaced with the Tata Aeris; they also say that the launch will take place on September 25, 2026. It is also worth noting that the date for launch still needs official confirmation.
It is certain that the Tata.Cars will hold an event to launch the Tata Aeris, successor of the Tata Tigor. At the event, the manufacturer won’t only showcase the car but also reveal all specifications and features along with the ex-showroom price.
Do we know anything else about this upcoming Tata car?
The Tata Tigor facelift, set to be known as the Tata Aeris, will have many upgrades and improvements compared to its predecessor. The most significant changes are going to be on its exterior; its front-end and rear will have a totally revised design giving the distinct appearance of the outgoing model.
The patent images have already revealed that outside it will have slim LED headlights connected with black trim at the centre with the Tata logo, lower horizontal air intakes, pull-type door handles, flared wheel arches bracketing the multi-spoke alloy wheels, and a full-width LED taillight.
Its cabin will have many features that we get to see on the recently launched Tata Tiago facelift, such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless connectivity via Android Auto and Apple Carplay, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and a USB C-type port.
The powertrain is set to remain the same as the model, Tata Tigor, that is already on sale. The pure-petrol version will continue the 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol-powered internal combustion engine, which delivers 86 PS and 113 Nm, and CNG will have the same ICE, but it will crank 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm.
