On July 16, 2026, JSW MG Motor India revealed the ‘Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology,’ which is capable of underpinning all four types of new energy vehicles, including plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, and extended range electric vehicles.
The joint venture between JSW Group and SAIC Motor has officially confirmed they will introduce a battery electric vehicle and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle in India that will underpin this platform. Reportedly, the BEV may make its debut in August 2026, and the PHEV may arrive in 2027.
As per Autocar India, the manufacturer will introduce a BEV to the Indian market under the ex-showroom price of ₹25 lakh that will give tough competition to the Mahindra XEV 9S. As of now, they haven’t confirmed the name, but it is certain that the upcoming one is based on the Wuling Eksion.
The Eksion, a mid-size seven-seater electrified sport utility vehicle from SAIC-GM-Wuling, makes its debut in the Indonesian market on April 22, 2026, as a PHEV and BEV. The battery electric vehicle’s front axle has a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a single-speed automatic transmission.
The electric motor setup makes it a front-wheel-drive vehicle whose power output is 201 hp and peak torque is 310 Nm. It is equipped with a 69.2 kWh Magic Battery Pro lithium iron phosphate battery pack, whose CLTC range is 530 km. But in India, it will run up to 600 km in ARAI conditions.
The front and rear suspension are MacPherson strut and independent multi-link, respectively, with electric power steering. Equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels with 215/55 tires, the front and rear wheels have disc brakes to ensure powerful braking with better heat absorption.
Inside, it has a 12.8-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard and an 8.8-inch TFT digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel showing all the driving data. The touchscreen supports wireless connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for video and audio streaming.
It also has a wireless phone charging pad for phone charging convenience and Internet of Vehicle (IoV) connected services. Both front seats are ventilated; the driver’s seat is adjustable in six ways and the co-passenger’s in four ways to provide better seating capacity for both.
For the safety of occupants, it has six airbags, an anti-locking braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, hill hold control, an electric parking brake, a tire pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and a level 2 advanced driving assistant system including ACC, AEB, and others.
Outside, it has double horizontal LED daylight running lights, a closed-off grille to enhance aerodynamics, lower air intakes, squared-off wheel arch cladding, double-toned ORVMs, a roofline, mechanical door handles, a roof-integrated spoiler with a braking light, a rear bumper-mounted side reflector, and slim LED taillights.
The JSW MG Motor India will launch the Wuling Eksion with the same specs and features. Notably, we are expected to see slight changes to its exterior, and also the interior may see some upgrades compared to the one already on sale in Indonesia. They will soon reveal the name of the model.
As of now, they are selling five pure electric models in the Indian market: the MG IM6, MG M9, MG Cyberster, MG ZS EV, MG Windsor EV, MG Comet EV, and Windsor EV Pro. The upcoming one from JSW MG Motor India is anticipated to be positioned above the MG ZS and below the MG IM6; it is expected to cost around ₹24 lakh.
